Essence Brown
Raised in Miami, FL, Essence is a Black and Puerto Rican actor-storyteller who started doing theatre at 10 years old and continues to perform and develop new work for the stage and screen. Essence holds a B.A. in Acting from Pace University’s International Performance Ensemble where she trained in devised theater and ensemble collaboration. She has performed at NYC’s Theater Row, 3-Legged Dog, and The PIT, co-produced and developed original work, and played principal roles in award winning productions. She is a co-founder of a New York based femme ensemble theater group as well as a Performing Arts Intern with the award-winning company, Elevator Repair Service. Creative expression has been central to Essence’s journey both professionally and personally. Providing space for young voices to play, connect with themselves, and be bold has been a full circle opportunity that constantly inspires her.
