Play games, translate secret messages from Thing, and battle the Hyde in a final showdown. Part acting class, part improv class, kids will rehearse iconic scenes from the show, devise new scenes of werewolves and gorgons, and learn the dances of the Rave’N Ball.

This scene study day camp for young performers gets everyone to working to solve the mystery! Using scripted material from classic kid-friendly “Who Done It?” films and shows like Spy Kids, Enola Holmes, and The Mysterious Benedict Society, kids get immersed in the world of the detective and work on multiple exciting roles. As they do, they learn the fundamentals of script analysis, character development, and how to make strong and specific choices. Finally, they play beloved theater games that get them working together using improvisation and immersed in an exciting narrative they devise.

Ever wonder what the snakes on Medusa’s head talk about? Ever seen an infomercial for Arachne’s loom? Do you know what you would do if you came face-to-face with a Minotaur? In this dynamic camp, classic Greek myths come alive as students perform short plays based on classic tales! Part acting class, part improv class, kids create their own myth mash-up in addition to staging scripted one-acts. This is great early exposure to mythology and scene study techniques.

Join us as we use the “magic” of theater to explore this Wizarding World. Using the Harry Potter series as a springboard, we will generate original stories as well as rehearse scripted scenes from the films. Students will get to hone their writing and improv skills as they create plays based on their favorite iconic characters or imagine new ones in this magical world. In addition to the acting work, we’ll play games of Quidditch, make spell books and compete for the House Cup. Jump on your Firebolt and let’s play!

Friday, March 29 & Monday, April 1, 2024

Yes…And! In this dynamic improv class, students learn the tools to think on their feet, listen and respond with wit, and be creative in the moment. We start each class with warm-ups, shaking out inhibitions, and then we move into games that foster collaboration. Students get practice being spontaneous, collaborative and hilarious while making something they can be proud of. Improvisation is not only a great part of the actor’s toolbox, it is a powerful social skill that gets kids trusting their instincts, shifting perspective, and most importantly having fun!

Step through the magical wardrobe and join a land of enchantment with talking fauns, evil queens and majestic lions. What does Turkish Delight make you do? How do you free the statues in the palace garden without being caught? What powers do you use to fight alongside Aslan? As you release Narnia from the grips of everlasting winter and the White Witch, discover your unique bravery and special skills.

In this camp, kids use scripted text from stage plays of The Chronicles of Narnia, and devise their own material through improvisation and games.

Join us as we explore the wild and wondrous worlds of Roald Dahl! We rehearse scenes from James and the Giant Peach, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, The Witches, and Matilda and delve into acting technique, comedic timing and character development. Song and spoken-word poetry also by Dahl will augment our rehearsal process.

Campers can enroll in one or all days. All days will have a different focus and new scenes assigned.

Thursday, June 6 & Friday, June 7, 2024

Welcome to a theatre camp that introduces kids to Shakespeare’s dramatic masterpieces in a way that is accessible, enriching and fun! Students will learn the plot of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and act out the salient points of character and through long-form improvisations. They will also rehearse and scenes from the play. Games surrounding the characters and their incredible conflicts, desires and stories make the class an incredibly joyous exploration of both theater and Shakespeare.

The kids of the most famous villains are unafraid to be “rotten to the core”! Prepare to dance your way from the Isle of Lost to the Kingdom of Auradon taking on awesome choreography and characters from Disney’s Descendants. In acting scene work, explore themes of friendship, betrayal and how to be “chillin’ like a villain”.

Learn how to be a triple threat in this dynamic class for budding performers with Child’s Play NY. Students focus on songs, dances and characters from Broadway’s most celebrated and kid-friendly shows. They work alongside professional performers with years of experience bringing their passion to children. Students amass skills in singing, dance, speech, and improvisation taught by master teachers and performers at the top of their field.
